start a new document, size doesn't matter

Take the rectangular marquee tool and alt click it until a circle appears then draw a circle Fill it with black and go to blending options. enter these settings:
Drop shadow: default
Inner shadow: default
Bevel and emboss: size 100
Color overlay: colour of you choice
Gradient overlay: scale 84% you should have something similar to this:

Control and click the layer where you orb is so you select it Make a new layer beneath the orb. Go to select->modify->expand and make it 5 Go to blending options and use these settings: Drop Shadow: default Bevel and emboss: default Colour overlay: 645252 Here is the end result:
