It is a dangerous world out there. Every single day many people were killed. Those foolish enough to let people know of their name or see their face, that is.

Thoughts can kill, as the old saying had said. For centuries mankind had thought it was a mere figurative speech about how ideas are infectious and how ideas can kill a man.

Little did they know it was meant to be literal. How the men of ancient world knew was besides the point. In year two thousand and eight, a man suddenly discovered his ability to harm, or kill, a man simply by thought. By year two thousand and ten there were more, a lot more. By year two thousand and fifteen, it was discovered that actually all humans had the ability.

And the world soon fell into chaos. World leaders were swiftly murdered, not by guns or even swords, but simply by thoughts. By the ideas & thoughts of the opposing.

I remembered a saying in the show "V for Vendetta": "And ideas are bulletproof." How true it is today. Ideas are bulletproof.

Only man isn't.

It was soon discovered that you need the person's face to be within sight in order to kill the person. That, and you need the person's name.

Who discovered it, I do not know. I only know that overnight, the face of the world changed, literally. Every one began to wear a mask, and used fake names. For self-preservation I guess.

I laughed at the tasty irony- the race who would fake a veneer to mask their true thoughts and intentions now have to wear a real mask to save their lives.

Perhaps one day people will wake up to find themselves only dreaming. Perhaps God made a mistake and would take back that gift, or curse, soon.

But until then, stranger, be careful. Thoughts can kill.
