Points to consider when using this list or buying a camera:-
1:- The prices stated are the cheapest I could find without cameras being on sale. When you look prices may have changed, if they have PM me and tell me what you have found ;)
2:- When looking for a camera, do not get persuaded into buying a camera because it has digital zoom...digital zoom is a horrid, pointless feature. It distorts and pixilates your shot. When looking at zoom read the Optical zoom, preferably go for a fairly power zoom (from about x6-x12).
The £101-£200 ($182-$360) Bracket-
If you want a cheap and cheerful camera that can deliver good quality shots with a bit of artistic capability, I think this is the price range for you :)
Nikon Coolpix 3200
Price- £110 ($198)
Rough Round Up- This camera is a very capable camera. Admittedly it's not going to give you stunning results, but its a great camera for snapshots and learning how to take photos on. The quality of the camera is of a fairly high standard, so this camera should last you a while.

Canon PowerShot A510
Price- £125 ($226)
Rough Round Up- Ahhh Canon! If you want a proper camera, go with Canon, Canon>all :P This camera is another really capable camera. Okay, so its not as powerful as the Nikon above, but it does have much more relation to high end cameras. The main thing about this camera is its variety of settings, it won't let you down. It has all of the manual settings of a professional camera meaning you -will- learn how the professionals take charge of theirs cameras with this. Another useful little feature is its x4 optical zoom, its not overly powerful, but I am sure it will do most people.

Canon PowerShot S1 IS
Price- £182 ($329)
Rough Round Up- Another very capable camera from Canon. Yet again its not a high pixel count in comparison to some cameras in this price range, however, it's got some features that make it a good deal. Like the other Canon, this camera has many manual functions that will get you used to the way higher end cameras work (just incase you want to move on later in life), unlike the other Canon though, this camera is a big one. Its got a nice build, it has more of a ergonomic design, meaning you will be much more comfy holding this one. The camera will have a bit of weight so when taking shots, you should get a sturdier grip! Its also got a x10 optical zoom which is another great plus :)

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2
Price- £196 ($354)
Rough Round Up- This camera doesn't have the settings that the other do, yet if you are looking for quality and this is within your budget...this is a good deal. Not only does it have good image quality (5MP) its got a x6 optical zoom, which is very good for its size! For those who are just after quality, this is a good camera. (I would recommend getting it in black A: Because it looks so much cooler B: It doesn't look as cheap :P )

The £201-£300 ($363-$542) Bracket-
This range is getting into the more artistically able cameras with great image quality for printing to A4 size with good quality. These cameras are probably the best if you are planning on starting art photography, you'll be able to pick up skills and get good results!
Nikon Coolpix 7900
Price- £227 ($410)
Rough Round Up- Yes, yet another camera From Nikon's Coolpix range. This one has a very powerful sensor, the 7.1MP will undoubtedly give you great quality pictures every time. This camera had a nice range of functions, however it doesn't have any manual functions at all, this lets it down a bit. This camera is not the most capable camera, you can probably achieve results close to what you want yet the lack of manual settings means you will not get to experiment with it. It does come in black though :D If you want a good quality camera, this is a good start! :)

Konica Minolta Dimage Z5
Price- £255 ($461)
Rough Round Up- Konica Minolta are a very reliable manufacture, they have been in the digital market since the beginning. They are still giving big competition to the big boys of the digital and this camera is one of those! This camera has some great technological features in it that really make it a great camera. It has a nice 5.1MP sensor meaning you can get large prints at good quality, it has a x12 optical zoom with an image stabilizer meaning you will never get a blurred image at long focal lengths. It has manual modes meaning you can experiment, and one of its best features is the extras our can buy for it! This camera takes two other lens converters, meaning you can make your zoom twice as big and you can get a wide angle lens too. This is a great buy if you are up for starting photography :)

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5
Price- £268 ($484)
Rough Round Up- This is another great competitor with the big boys camera, I think its probably the biggest rival with the camera above. In my opinion, I thin this one is a better buy. Why you say? Well, this camera has everything the above has, however its image stabilizing function is much more powerful, meaning that there is less of a chance of image blur at length. Another great thing about this camera is its shape, not only does it look cool, but it feels comfy. One of the great things about this camera is its lens...its a Leica, one of the best camera manufactures in the world. If your going to spend the day taking photos, this one wont make your hand sore. If you have a budget a bit lower to this, I recommend you save up a bit longer so you can buy this ;)
